&lt;p&gt;And in 2012, with bandwidth hopefully generally multiplying, I see a hi-res 'soft' format for movies emerging, just like lossless audio for music, so I would take any forecast from 2012 with a pinch of salt.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This does not necessarily mean I won't get a Blu-ray player though, just my two cents.&lt;/p&gt;
