Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 v Phillips PFL9664 47"

I am looking to purchase a new TV this week, I can still get hold of a new 5090, but looking at the reviews on the new PFL9664 i am spoilt for choice, Can anyone advise me to which would be the better purchase?

If I was you I would purchase the philips lcd.

Brighter colours from lcd you will get more from blu ray and also you will not get any buzzing from the plasma.

2 major differences.plasma reflection and plasma consumption of power is higher.almost 2 times higher.that said...that plasma is one of the best in the world.

I'd second that- superb though the Philips is, the extra size and quality of the Pioneer would win it for me!

Hi

The Pioneer without a doubt had my 5090 since March and glad i got it, anything else would be second best in my opinion.

It's the Kuro for me........power consumption will be more....around £10 per year..........I'm sure you can afford that.

And as a Kuro owner I have to say the only time I can hear the buzzing is if the sound's off.
No kit worth mentioning...

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 v Phillips PFL9664 47"

For me the philips lcd's have the edge I think they are the perfect tv.

I am still amazed at my picture and I have had my philips for about 4-5 years now I think.

My dad when he bought his pioneer plasma wanted a philips because he had seen mine but the philips was £1,000 more than the pioneer.

For me I love the pioneer's as well especially when it gets to 1080p, they are definetely my second favourites but I am a bit fussy and at times the buzzing does irritates me. you can hear it at at loud volumes especially when someone's about to die and it goes a bit quiter in the film and buzzes most of the time I ignore it but it you listenen out for it you can hear it.

If a phililps was not available then it would be yes every time to the pioneer plasma, that being said they have finished making them now  and I know shops have tryed to stockpile them. Anyone who gets one will not be disappointed know.

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 v Phillips PFL9664 47"

Steve, it's your money and if you are going to spend loads of it shouldn't you think of looking at the sets working and deciding for yourself?

I must admit that I was swayed by the reviews but I did go and view the sets carefully before deciding that it was the Pioneer for me. I actually ended up with the 6090 and I have to say I've never heard any buzzing. However, the picture on my set is stunning and I recommend that you check out the Pioneer yourself.
