Do you mean like a cd

Are there any blu-ray music only discs? As Will has said in the past, it would seem to be a good idea. SACD and DVD-Audio failed to a certain extent with mainstream releases as most of the public think CD sounds fine and you needed a special player to play them. Most households will have a blu-ray player in the near future, blu-ray studio music discs could work. I guess 25gb would be a waste of space though, perhaps they could be in AVCHD format (without the video!), or with picture you could make use of BD live with access to bands websites, etc. Trouble is a lot of us would want to rip for use on a PC or iPod, the record companies wouldn't like us being able to rip 24 bit, 96khz music!

Re: Anyone got any good blu ray music dvds?

I did have the Keane one and liked everything about it but with keane there is no bass guitar from what I can remember so the noise coming from the subwoofer was like a think this is the right word drowning noise like a hmming noise so when I went to louder volumes it got really irriating.

So I ended up selling it.

I had the oasis one and did not like the quality of it so I sold that as well.

The two I have kept is AC live at donington fantastic.

Amy winehouse - Amazing.

I can clearly here all the instruments of these two concerts.

Recently puchased the iron maiden one flight 666 but the vocals from the lead singer is coming from left and right speakers not the centre. This is starting to annoy me to.

Also the crowd can overtake the music from the rears.

So I am now thinking of selling that too.

So I will be left with AC/DC and Amy Winehouse.

What about Rihanna - she sounds good on the previews?

I know what that Keane thing was the guy with the keyboard he had something he might have something he presses with his foot to make the subwoofer noises - not true bass.

Andrew you have quite a strange taste in music - I have never heard of them?

Cool Rolling Stones...A Bigger bang...or Rolling Stones Shine a light.

Shine a light has DTS HD Master, or True Dolby.

Bigger Bang DTS HD Master .

Both recommended....

Re: Anyone got any good blu ray music dvds?

I have the nine inch nails blu-ray, which is brilliant (if you like that kind of thong.)

I've always felt concerts on boggo DVD lacked a bit, the DD/DTS soundtracks not having the bite of the CD's I'm used to, and sounding a bit flat.  Which makes blu-ray the perfect format for live concerts really:)

Noticed metallica have a blu-ray out soon too.

Yeah I popped this question in the hifi forum, I think the proliferation of blu-ray players over SACD/DVDA capable machines should make music on blu-ray a serious consideration for record companies.
