dpi is only relevant when we have a size, 72 dpi on a canvas that's a mile long is going to look rubbish, on something an inch long it will look just about ok. Simple

I thought dpi stood for "dots per inch"... surely then it doesn't matter if it's an inch long or a mile long, you still have 72 dots per each inch...

Sorry, what I meant was if an image that's an inch wide has 72dpi at that size, then when it is blown up to a mile wide it's going to have 72 dots per mile which of course isn't particularly hi-res.

Andy is real alright, and so are Andrew and Claire. The team are aware of the problem and are working towards a resolution. They will give us a 'loud shout' when it's all sorted, so keep your eyes peeled.

Ive tried various files sizes and actual size of avatars with no success. Is it because im using firefox or is there a REALLY strict limit on them?

ive tried various dpi and compression techniques, its officially doing my head in now :(
