WHF needs you! (and your Sony Walkman)

Hello,

We're halfway through the new look issue and we've got a new page in the magazine which is our nostalgia corner.

It's called I Remember When...and kicks off the with very first Sony Walkman, the TPS L2 from 1979.

We'd like one (with headphones and packaging if possible!) for a photo shoot - if you have one and are willing to lend it to us for a day or two, please email me at richard.melville@haymarket.com.

You'll get a credit in the magazine and our eternal gratitude, as well as helping make magazine history. Sort of. You get the picture. We'll cover all postage and take care of your kit.

We're doing this every month too, so if there's anything that you want to see in there, let us know below...

Wouldn't mind seeing an article on the Sansui kit that was around in the early seventies. I had a AU222 amplifier which was really nice and then the AU666 model which was absolutely brilliant. Oh the good old days.
Denon DM37, MA BR1s, Maplin Spkr cable, Maintrab mains filter unit.

Pana TX-32LXD70, V+, Philips DVDR 3380, a HDMI lead, Tacima CS929 (still not totally convinced)

Dansette Bermuda (her singles), HMV wind-up gramophone (my 78s)

Seconded. Sansui were awesome in those days.

Great idea. I guess this has come (partially at least) from feedback of the forum??

Cannot help with the kit though....

What about a comparison test between one of those early [ 1960's ] stereo Pye valve amps with separate pre amp and tuner and some modern valve kit.... Big Smile

I was rather taken with Caption 3 - TDK Cassettes in June Mag.  They bring back memories.  I used to have a TDK metal version but mainly used Maxell chrome tapes.  There used to be a mail order firm in the 1980's that let you buy in bulk and they sold reel to reel tapes, demagnetisers, head cleaners all the associated accessories you needed - the more you bought, the cheaper it was but I just cannot remember what they were called?

Yamaha YSP-30D, YST-FSW100PB Sub Woofer, YSD-11

Son has B&W Zeppelin, Daughter has KEF Picoforte, Wife has iPOD Touch awaiting Sonos expansion.....

I just received a decent condition WM-3 (a later version of the TPL-S2) it's going to need a bit of work (new bands & play-head at least), but it sounds pretty good as it is - rich and powerful.

Going to be interesting comparing it to my X-Series when I've finished restoring it.
