More of a case for the yanks to go i think.  I still think Benitez had no choice but to take Torres off because of the upcoming game with Lyon.

The biggest mistake iv seen Rafa make since he joined Liverpool is to keep Babel side lined..the guy has the potential to be an amazing striker..he is a different player when playing for Holland.  If he was given the chance to play upfront with Torres week in week out i think he'd become an animal and also relieve the pressure off Torres.

Are you saying the owners pick the team?

If you're winning 3-0 you can take off your best players and rest them for Wednesday's game. If yo're drawing 1-1 away from home, 8 points from top spot, with 3/4 of the second half to play (and Steven Gerrard injured) you LEAVE Torres on. Not much point insaving him for wednesday if you're severely compromising the league position - and probably end up behind Man City and Aston Villa.

Re: time for benitez to go ??

ok ive calmed down now , but i still dont understand why he subbed his 3 most attacking players while drawing , yes the yanks are a big part of the problem , but you have to try and win EVERY premier league game , what happens if lyon win on wednesday ? keep torres for the fa cup ? but if benitez does go , kevin keegan ? please no , he couldnt handle the pressure at the toon when europe wasnt even on the adgenda , i say give klinnsman or spallotti a go , couldnt be much worse ..

Re: time for benitez to go ??

But you'd win every game 4-3 with Keegan. Sir Les Ferdinand and Asprilla up front supporting Torres. Barry Venison, Rob Lee anchoring the midfield. Keith Gillespie firing in crosses from the wing and the mighty Ginola roaming free with Gerrard behind the strikers. A few more strikers signed to play in defence and am I the only one not to be excited?

MInd you, Roberto Mancini is available, but how boring would that be?

Re: time for benitez to go ??

i wish sheik mohammed got bored with the horses and snapped up liverpool , those yanks new what they were doing , buying cheap to sell at a big profit , ruthless gits , they dont give a toss about liverpool , at least abramovich loves his club , and the arabs at man city seem the real deal , a club like liverpool should be bidding for all the top players , 45000 every second week , and half of em can probably barely afford it , thats loyalty for you , such a shame ...

The A-rabs are still interested but realise a bad season will lower the price. And if no Champion's League next year, the club will be very short of money and the American owners will be put in a postion where they have to sell. There are a lot of the top clubs in a bad way financially, Man U and Liverpool need knock-out stages of CL to make money, Chelsea need Roman to stay interested. The pool could be the first of the big 4 to experince financial life without CL money.

I mentioned this in my previous post. Liverpool generate around 40% of their revenue from the Champions League alone. On that basis, I can't see Benitez surviving if they don't reach the top four come May.

Re: time for benitez to go ??

Liverpool fans should be holdin up hundreds of banners in every match demanding the yanks to sell up and GO!  Yanks have no respect for the game of football and these two dont seem to have a clue on what to prioritise for the club that they own.

After last season we were on track to build on the club and get in some quality players..but no the Yanks didnt release many funds..i mean the players we did buy were brought from the money we got from selling Alonso..

Also, wheres the promised "new" football ground? The Yanks came in with big promises but havent fulfilled any of them..time for them to go before the club goes even further downhill!!!

Sorry if I seem dim - how does not having a new ground and a lack of understanding of the british game influence Rafa's pitch-side decisions?

They have given Rafa quite a bit of money over the years, and they are still mediocre.

Anyway why call for Benitez's head? Wenger hasnt won any trophies of late and yet he is still praised at Arsenal...A bad patch in a season or even a whole season doesnt mean the manager is a bad one..This is the 1st season that we have started on a real bad note..i honestly dont think Benitez needs to go because of it.

Replying to one of the earlier posts..yes Benitez may have won the CL with Houllier's squad but Houllier wasnt able to do this and Benitez did.

Torres is the only out and out striker. It seems ludicrous to play an unfit player in a club the size of Liverpool. 5 years and only one genuine striker. He may be a good man manager, but buying and decision-making is not of a top flight manager.

Benitez won the CL on mainly an inherited squad, yes. The first season Jose Mourinho took over at Chelsea, the bulk of his squad was inherited, only a few very average players (expensive) brought in......

Chelsea 6 trophies in two seasons

Liverpool 2 trophies in five seasons.

Just stay away from Simon Grayson, the UKs most successful manager this season.

Re: time for benitez to go ??

I was at Emirates and Craven Cottage.  Painful week to be a fan.  Torres was really in pain and had to come off.   Kuyt was poor. Yossi shouldn't have been substituted.

I was right by the first "red card".  The ref got that so wrong.  Ahh well, next year...

All this talk of sacking Rafa - it's gonna cost £25m+, why not just give him that cash in the transfer market - David Villa will make it all better.  He should want to come to Liverpool too, as playing with Torres weekly will really improve Spain's world cup chances...

I'm a big fan of Dirk's but he needs a spell on the bench. He's been poor of late. Against Arsenal and United he made the wrong decisions quite a lot.

The people calling for Rafa's head are mad. Who do you replace him with? We are having no luck at the moment and I am hopeful that can change soon. Against Fulham, we were hit with a flu bug and lost more players on top of those injured already. Had Ngog been fit, I think Torres might have been a sub or taken off at half time.

As for Villa, we have to be realistic. Torres and Gerrard are brilliant together. Villa is an out and out goalscorer. Would he be as good a partner for Torres, I don't think so. We could do with another wide right player and a forward that is happy to play every now and then. If we have everyone fit, we are a match for any side.
