Not a new system...

...but a new room built around them.

Barring curtains/blinds and tidying up the cabling my extension is finally finished, so I hope you'll forgive me wanting to share a few pictures with people who might appreciate it. The stand is made from granite.

Those Townshend speaker 'stands' are begging for some obscure macro shots!

Re: Not a new system...

If I have the chance later...

Without curtains the room still sounds a little 'live', and stereo focus is just a little less strong than in the previous room. I'm hoping that the curtains will be in next week and resolve accordingly.

There's much more fluidity to the lower mid and bass regions. I don't know if this is because the speakers have enough room to breathe properly, or because I've used a dedicated mains spur/unswitched socket.

Re: Not a new system...

Nice equipment and excellent set up. Get some curtains up before any nosy neighbours realise what all that must have cost! I was about to start talking my missus into a re-decoration around my equipment. I don't fancy my chances of getting an extension to put it all in!!Wink

Re: Not a new system...

Thank you all for the kind words.

Nukzster, it's not a commercially available stock item. I got a local stonemason to build it to drawings we produced and it's fixed in place, though would be too heavy to move anyway.

Re: Not a new system...

Looks fabulous. Do the speaker stands make much of a SQ difference? They look amazing. Did you take the opportunity to have a spearate mains spur built in just for the system?

Re: Not a new system...

Excellent!!

As Charl says, a projector would top it all off nicely!

Onkyo ND-S1 & PS3 Directly feeding AVI ADM 9.1s. Samsung LCD, Pioneer DVD-LX50 and Dell Laptop feeding the AVIs via a Beresford 7520. **Mostly cheapo cables**

Re: Not a new system...

The AV & HIFI elements have their own mains spurs.

The Townshend speakers stands don't have as much effect as their racks, but they introduce an immediate set of benefits. They dampen down the vibrations that the speakers put back into the room through the floor, and the most noticeable sonic gain is in taking the bass out of the room and into the soundstage. Alas they are made to order, unlike the racks, so they both take a while and cost more than perhaps they ought to.

Macro shots as requested; sorry about the one I thought I'd rotated but haven't.

I'm not sure about a projector, but the stand was built with the view that it should accommodate a 60" screen. Eventually.
