I'm after a Blu-ray player. My 10-year old Arcam Alpha 8se cd player needs repairing. Should I buy a Sony BDP-S360 and have the repair done, or just go for a BDP-S760 to do both jobs? I don't know what's wrong with the CD player, nor how much it will cost to fix.

I suspect a (working) Arcam Alpha 8 SE will still make a better job of playing your CDs than a Sony Blu-ray player. Depends how much you listen to music/watch movies and the capabilities of the rest of your system.

I have the Sony S360 and the Arcam 7SE. The BluRay is a joke at paying CDs (really its so bad that i laughted when i heard it play). I know both your machine are a step up but i can beleive that the comparission will be much different.

Pay for the repair on the Alpha 8 or you'll be disapointed. Or buy the blu ray and its musicality will drive you to repair the Alpha anyway
