Hi i'm looking to replace all of my power cable , i currently have Copper-line Alpha and i was wondering if its worth spending the extra £15 for a wattgate ?

Yes i had noticed that , i wish i could afford the powerchords but i can't as one of my lengths needed is 3m and the other 2 are 0.5 & 1m 

So since i had used a copper-line alpha before i was wondering if i should add as an added option a wattgate  but i just can't seem to find any good reviews on the web . 

There is a few mentions on other forums and some say its a con and some say they are great and when you look around wattgates are on most high end power cables but would it make a difference on a budget?

Even with the powerchords they don't come with wattgates and still the cable has cracking results  

I'm on the line of thinking no one would have done a comparison with the same cable , one with and one without a wattgate , Maybe its something What HiFi could do in the future  

The Wattgate is a more secure connection, not sure whether or not you will gain significantly in audio terms therefore IMO you would be better saving and getting a better power cord, as you say the Chord Powerchord does not use one and I get cracking results from them.  

I get great results from the powerchords too...(hi again, True Blue, how r u? lol)

Look at hifix.co.uk for bargain powerchord prices on 1 metre and 1.5 metres.....

I have 4 Powerchord's now.......using them on receiver, CDP, blu ray and dvd recorder!!

They improve all the above machines, dramatically, in my opinion.

Just added the QED Signature sub cable and QED Reference aerials.....again, a good improvement in sound/visuals....

Just about done with upgrading now, though....will just have to sit down and enjoy them all now.

All cables have been upgraded......no more to do...

Back onto kit then LOL never ending circle :-)

My next upgrades will be either

Small 

1. New Chord Active HDMI 

2. New optical lead

3. Final powerlead for my BRP

or

Big

1. New AV reciever Denon 2310

2. New Power amp Nap 200

3. New BRP

Hopefully at least one smallone big this year

There is a guy called Howard Popeck - well known throughout the hi-fi trade - who has run a variety of retail hi-fi outlets over many years. He used to (and maybe still does) make his own range of mains cables called Cassiel. Apart from the very lowest cost one, all the others were to my recollection exactly the same cable - only the wattgate plug on the equipment end changed, from a basic 320 Wattgate through a variety of different contact materials, to some fancy Rhodium plated version by (I think) Furutech. The difference in performance of each Wattgate plug type (in his and his customers' estimation) was significant, and the price of each cable reflected this. Howard is still out there retailing Hi-Fi - whether his cables are I don't know, but he used to be open to home trialling the different variants so you could prove it for yourself.

The Wattgate does provide improved performance with the Copper-line Alpha Power Cable in comparison to the Standard IEC.
