I was at Emirates and Craven Cottage.  Painful week to be a fan.  Torres was really in pain and had to come off.   Kuyt was poor. Yossi shouldn't have been substituted.

I was right by the first "red card".  The ref got that so wrong.  Ahh well, next year...

All this talk of sacking Rafa - it's gonna cost £25m+, why not just give him that cash in the transfer market - David Villa will make it all better.  He should want to come to Liverpool too, as playing with Torres weekly will really improve Spain's world cup chances...

I'm a big fan of Dirk's but he needs a spell on the bench. He's been poor of late. Against Arsenal and United he made the wrong decisions quite a lot. The people calling for Rafa's head are mad. Who do you replace him with? We are having no luck at the moment and I am hopeful that can change soon. Against Fulham, we were hit with a flu bug and lost more players on top of those injured already. Had Ngog been fit, I think Torres might have been a sub or taken off at half time. As for Villa, we have to be realistic. Torres and Gerrard are brilliant together. Villa is an out and out goalscorer. Would he be as good a partner for Torres, I don't think so. We could do with another wide right player and a forward that is happy to play every now and then. If we have everyone fit, we are a match for any side.

That's the point, gerrard. With a fully fit squad they are a match for anyone - Liverpool's achilles heal (sorry for the pun) is they lack a depth in quality. After 5 years at the helm, he can only boast one striker? He has spent loads of dosh over the five years and either sold or loaned out strikers. Even worse, bringing Robbie Fowler back when, realistically, he should of been put out to grass. This is not a knock at Fowler, I'm a big fan, (what a confession from a Blues fan) why bring an oldie back on a short-term deal?

Many of Benitez's decisions have been weird, bordering on football suicide.....

Come on PP, Fowler scored at a much better rate on his return than Owen has for the Mancs. He was a no brainer signing - happy just to be at the club and be a sub.

Ngog is an out and out forward, as is Voronin. They might not be top drawer but they are forwards. Also, although Kuyt doesn't play up front for us, he did before and he does for his country (who are third in the world rankings).

Benitez has spent a lot but his net spend is not massive and it doesn't include the potential money he has made on Torres, Reina, Agger and others. United paid £15m or so for Ronaldo and sold him for £80m. Benitez's net spend so far in his 5 years is about £80m, he paid £20m for Torres, £5m for Reina and £2.5m for Agger. He could recoup £40m from (God forbid) selling Torres, £15m from Reina and £7.5m from Agger (guesstimates obviously). This would have him only spending £20m or so over 5 years on transfers.

I agree that he has bought some turkeys. However, he has had to gamble on the under £10m player far too often as we can't compete with the big boys. Can you imagine the stick if he had bought Nani for £18m instead of Torres for £2m more??

Kuyt is too inconsistant, the others you mentioned are at best average. He sold Peter Crouch, Robbie Keane, Pennant and others over the past two seasons.

If they don't make the top four in May, these decisions will haunt him. Moreover, Liverpool will be in dire trouble.

Keane shouldnt have even been in the Liverpool squad..how many times did he miss relatively simple chance infront of goal?? With Torres upfront Keane knew he'd be a sub and he should have been happy on the bench.

I been looking at the fixtures from now until the end of the year and I can see Liverpool coming back into it. Two hardest games are against Arsenal and Man City and they are both home fixtures. Still a little early to write them off.

there is such a long way to go. Liverpool are capable of winning ten on the bounce and cutting the deficit to say 4 points.

Re: time for benitez to go ??

chelsea could implode like last season , they have a new manager but the same players , man utd will struggle if rooney gets injured , berbatov is useless , utd were lucky against birmingham , sunderland and city , they look vulnerable , arsenal hmmm , they are looking good , but often flatter to deceive , liverpool just might have a squeek , but they have to beat the weaker teams , ie fulham , and they wont do that with ngog and voronin ...
