i got the 1m powerchord from the same seller by the way

paid for it on monday so hopefully should arrive maybe tomorrow or friday possibly. i recently got a chord superscreen and was well impressed with it on my musical fidelity x-ray cd player. so the powerchord should really really impress by the sounds of peoples comments.

Just checked on Royal Mail tracking, and mine is due to get here tomorrow.....

I noticed they 'flew out' on Monday. he had 3 one metre and 2 half metre cables for sale. Guess people may have seen this thread......?

The alpha is quite bright, but detailed in presentation. The superscreen was easier on the ear (not so bright, but the vocals were more midrange), especially when it came to female vocals, but it missed a bit of top end detail. I'm hoping this cable will be the best of both worlds!!!!!

Shame there are no reviews on this cable, but if you look at Chord's recent track record for cables, most get 5 stars........roll on the morning!!!!

Initial thoughts are very good. The qualities of the superscreen are still there, but with a bit more openness and detail at the top end, which is what i was after........

I will do some comparisons later with the alpha, and then borrow my friend's superscreen too.....

Powerchord vs alpha :

Wow, what a difference, but I guess there should be as the Powerchord retails at 3 times the cost of the Alpha.

As I have said above, the Powerchord sounds similar to the superscreen (as far as I can remember).........in other words the treble is more controlled and less 'shrill', and Taylor Swift's voice is now in the midrange and treble, rather than too much treble.

The separation of instruments and vocals is far improved too, which makes for a more realistic presentation of the music, in my opinion.

Looking forward to trying out the Powerchord and Superscreen later tonight hopefully. I have a feeling the differences will be very slight, but as I got the Powerchord for less than the RRP of the Superscreen, I'm very pleased.......

I picked up a Superscreen at a good price on Ebay last week and yesterday tried it for the first time on an Arcam CD73. I switched it and asked the wife whether she could hear a difference -- without telling her what I had done. She said, "Wow!", I said "Sh*t!", and every cable sceptic got to get their ears cleaned!!  Success!! The noise floor was lowered considerably and the whole presentation of the music was cleaner and crisper.

 Wow! Maybe i should try one to and compare it with the WireWorld mains cables i like, judging from your comments... Allthough i did connect my WireWorlds to a power conditioner and still had obvious difference. I didn't connect them (yet) straight to the wall socket without any conditioning, maybe them the difference will be even more obvious. I guees that's what you have done right? How is your mains power? Conditioned or not? Do you have any idea of the puity of your mains power? I learned that a powercord plays a lesser role if you have pure power to your equipment.

I replaced a standard kettle lead with the Chord, so wouldn't know about improving other mains cables. It is plucked into a Tacima, which didn't make as much of a difference when I got it.

I don't know about the quality of the power supply in the house, but I would guess that it isn't great, as it isn't a great building in terms of its infrastructure. I'm going to take this setup with me to another country (Ireland) soon and will see whether the difference is, well, different there.

My PowerChord turned up yesterday! Fitted it to my Musical Fidelity X-Ray cd player and it sounds superb. Initial thoughts are that it really seperates everything nicely, plus opening up that soundstage more. Brings great clarity to music. Joan Armatradings self titled album sounds lush, particularly track 'Like Fire'.  Looking forward to trying out some of my classical albums now

Glad that everyone is happy with theirs.  Obviously not just me imagining it!!!!

Mains upgrade next week.....dedicated cct.

Just remembered......sent my Merlin Mozart interconnect back as there was a fault on it, which means I can't use my cd player at the mo.

Promise once I receive it back (next week, i hope), I'll do that testing.....

Not a problem Pete.  Like I said I heard both but never immediately after each other.  My powerchords cost the same as the superscreen anyway.

Dedicated Radial cct tomorrow :-) cant wait, and my £23 bargain Tacima turned up (not sure I will need it mind you)
