That is an interesting point worthy of discussion. I think that Hendrix and the likes of  The Beatles and Led Zeppelin were all products of their time whose long term image would have suffered if they had kept going. Each would have started to produce bland albums full of filler IMHO. Pink Floyd and David Bowie have changed their sound over time and so have survived better, though many would disagree about anything post Ashes to Ashes Bowie. The same is true of Neil Young, although he jumped from one style to another and back again. Like David Bowie his 1980s period is not held with high regard.

Re: Life on the forum.

This seems like a fairly random thread so;

New espresso machine (finally) and were now sat enjoying lovelly capuccinos. Even better the machine came with some illy e.s.e pods too so no mess Big Smile

I'm sure it's better than my last machine ever was (even before it kept exploding), so great result all round

Re: Life on the forum.

Got to love the espresso machines. I've had mine for a few months and use illy coffee or lavazza, which tends to be a bit cheaper. One of the things I enjoy about it is that I can get ground coffee from different parts of the world, rather than the limited selection from my local supermarket.

It's very nice, though I've certainly noticed an upward trend in my coffee consumption. Not sure if two or three espressos a day is a lot.

However, one annoying feature of my machine is that it vibrates, which can, on occasions, knock the cup out of place, but a vigilant eye resolves that little hiccup.

Enjoy your machine!

This one vibrated like anything the first time i used it but seems to have settled down now.

think that it its far superior to the one it replaced, just seems much better than i ever remember the last being.

With regard coffee, have you tried Carte Noir? I used to have Illy alot, but the price just went up and up and these days i really don't think its worth the premium.

Re: Life on the forum.

Oh, Carte Noir is my preferred instant coffee, caffenated and decaff are just as nice.

You are right Ed, this thread is meant to be random, just like a good night out with friends.

I have just bought the wife a Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Comfort Easytronic, 2001, 32000 miles in very good condition for just under £2k. The Easytronic is brilliant to use and I was surprised, considering the reviews how refined and comfortable it is.

It is however going to have a lot of work done to it before I pick it up. I got the V5 reference number, which along with the reg number allows you to access the cars MOT history here;

 http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/internet/jsp/ECHID-Internet-History-Request.jsp

So afterwards I found out that the car had been MOT'd in the morning before I saw it and it had failed on two suspension springs, the front brakes being pitted and a gaiter not fitted properly on a CV joint. The salesman looked crest fallen when I told him I had found that lot out and of course I will be getting a new MOT and not the remains of the previous MOT which is what he was after. Power to the consumer!

Re: Life on the forum.

This is a great thread. First post on it.

I only drink decaf these days and use Illy decaf for my Bodum cafetiere and Carte Noir decaf for instant.

Any recomendations for a good ground decaf. The Illy isnt very full flavoured.

Used to drink half a dozen double espressos a day when I worked stupid shifts in hotels and got fed up of rattling and not sleeping.

Re: Life on the forum.

I haven't tried carte noir, but if it's available in ground coffee, I'll give it a go.

I agree, Illy isn't worth the premium, hence the switch to lavazza. There was a nice mexican coffee I got from my local food store which was quite nice. Freshly roasted and ground to personal spec. However, I tried a kenyan coffee after hearing good things, but found it a bit too acidic for espresso, though fairly good with a touch of milk.

I agree with the praise for the thread! Great idea Yes

There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know.
