You dont specify what format you want to use exactly, so if you're flexible give EAC and flac a look.
Dell 5150 with M-Audio Audophile 2496 soundcard; AVI ADM 9.1 speakers.

Panasonic TH-37PX80B; Panasonic DMP BD35; Sky+HD

http://whathifi.com/forums/t/140528.aspx was what i was looking for.

PJPro:
FLAC supports gapless playback. What are you using
as your media player?
I use Foobar2000 and ripped the files from CD using EAC. Both of these
products support gapless playback.
I just spent some time listening to The Wall by Pink Floyd. This has a
number of tracks which bleed into each other. Absolutely gapless. No
cracks. Perfect.

Like the EAC. decided to keep the files as WAV files so play back? Foobar2000?

I see that EAC also error corrects DRM software!

G'day,

I've been told Exact Audio Copy is really good for ensuring you get a perfect lossless copy. See exactaudiocopy.de

Haven't tried it myself yet, but it will be the first I do try when I re-rip my music collection to lossless.

Re: ripping CD's to lossless. what is the best software?

I use Winamp for ripping to 128kbit/s AAC - there's no reason at all why you could not use it for a lossless codec such as FLAC or WAV. I find that it has an easily customisable method of naming and organising tracks and uses Gracenote to get track info. I find that Winamp is a good compromise between precision and ease-of-use.

Otherwise, if you are keen to get exact rips then go for EAC.

The reason why iTunes should be avoided (imho) unless you use iPods is that its ripping can be very inaccurate and can lead to clicks and pops and worse if you are not careful. Ripping CDs can be a difficult process at the best of times due the high number of errors that can occur. iTunes seems not to deal with these very well.

Though I haven't had any issues since I turned error correction on. Though obviously I can't check as there's no 'eac' equivalent.

I'll add to that most drives which come installed on macs (such as Matshita) are rubbish. Adding a cheap external drive will reward you with a faster more reliable experience.
