Re: Not sure am hearing "true HD"

For info, have BD35 connected to HDMI 1 in (DVD) and PS3 to HDMI 2 in (HDP)

Is this correct??

True Blue:
Hello, when I press the Audio button on the remote it says 2Eng True HD multi

That's it! Dolby TruHD (multi means 3/2.1) and 2 means it's the 2nd soundtrack listed.

Check your settings on the receiver. When I click "Audio" on my BD remote, it changes in the top right corner of the screen and also on the screen on my receiver.

Re: Not sure am hearing "true HD"

Check the HDMI setttings of the Denon. I don't know for certain if that fixes it, but it looks like the last place to look, as it seems you've set up your BD35 correctly and are using the right cables.

That's my point, it should. One of the reasons I like Sony receivers is that they are not complicated at all - I find Denons are great but a pain to set up.

Re: Not sure am hearing "true HD"

I'm stumped as to what it is. Just found a US manual for the 1909 so will have a read through...

Re: Not sure am hearing "true HD"

Okay, been through the manual - potentially things to check which might be causing the issue. From the Menu screen:

Under Manual Setup, Audio Setup, Dolby Digital Setup set to Off.
Under Manual Setup, Audio Setup, Auto Surround Mode set to On.
Under Input Setup, Input Mode, Decode Mode set to Auto.

Also, I think you need to make sure the amp is in Standard mode by pressing the Std button on the remote. This should mean when it detects the Dolby TrueHD signal, it automatically switches to that decoder. If it isn't working still after all this, while TDK is playing with the TrueHD soundtrack, try going to the Menu screen, then Information, then Audio Input Signal - this should indicate exactly what the receiver is getting. If it's standard Dolby Digital, then the issue must be the Blu-Ray player is not sending the TrueHD signal...

I have a similar setup but Denon 2808 and BD30. Professorhat's response is accurate. Mine works fine with the Dark knight - Denon shows tru hd.

Re: Not sure am hearing "true HD"

Just for info, the incredibly helpful men at audio T are coming to have a look cause I am well and truely confused.

BD player set to bitstream - definate

Secondary audio off - definate

QED HDMI Performance 1.3 cable between BD35 and AVR1909

Reciever set up to auto detect and still the BD35 appears to be outputting in dolby digital Sad

Re: Not sure am hearing "true HD"

Think I might have it but cant test theory till morning.

The HDMI cable from BR to Receiver is QED Performance on the packet says HDMI standard 1.3

Dont I need 1.3a to transmit true HD via bitstream??
