Wii vs PS3

Just wondering if anyone has both or significantly used both?

Which is best for the casual gamer?

I'm thinking that maybe the Wii as its cheaper and from what i gather more 'fun' games, but ten it doesnt get all the big games (like resident evil 5 that i like)

The biggest criteria is really to have 2 player games so that both Gayle and I can play at the same time.

Thanks,
Ed

been off it

Ive got both and since i got the Wii the kids hav'nt been off it, personally i think its more suited to them, there 8 and 5yrs, now im not saying the Wii is for kids but as you alluded to, more 'fun' games.....

The PS3 has so much more to offer but if you (and Gayle) are just casual gamers the Wii is a great little machine...........

The Wii also has that Wii Fit thing that all the ladies love..........decisions, decisions......

Couldn't agree more.

We currently have ps3 and xbox fot the kids. We recently got rid of the wii for the ps3 because it's a blue ray player. The kids don't play games on it so I think it was a bad choice.

The wii was good fun and yhe kids play all the time on the xbox. We did get the elite version though so it has hdmi connection.

I'd do what ginder says wii + xbox.

Re: Wii vs PS3

Cheers guys,

I've got an xbox, but am thinking of getting rid of it. A couple of reasons, but in large part as most games are 1 player, or system link for multiplayer which isn't so good when there's two wanting a social gaming experience.

I might go see about that console hire thing though, sounds like a good idea.

Re: Wii vs PS3

We've got Wii and 360 and agree with the others that this a good all round solution. There are some good 'hardcore' games for Wii. Resient Evil 4, Mad World, Metroid, Mario Galaxy and PES being a examples. As for social gaming there's Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Mario Kart. Wii Play has a second controller as part of the package. The 360 gets all the multi format games so if you really want a PS3 look at the exclusives on both to help decide.

It's all part of the plan.....More or less

PS3 won't be much different from the Xbox on that front so I think a Wii would be your best bet.

PS3.

It plays Neil Young's Archives in Blu-Ray. What more could one want?

Oh, and FIFA 09 online with my brother-in-law in Brisbane (long way away) and my friend in Rotherham (slightly nearer).

There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know.

Re: Wii vs PS3

I have both, and if I was asked to get rid of one of them it would definately be the Wii. There are some good games on it but it gets much less play time than the PS3. For me the PS3 is fantastic because I use more or less all of its features. If you don't want all the included extras that the PS3 has such as Wifi and Blu Ray, then the 360 may well be worth considering. If you do want the extras that come with the PS3 then go for it.

Re: Wii vs PS3

Definately wii for casual gamer. We still use it regularly and got it when it came out. Excellent for parties as minimal practice required even my parents liked it (in their 70's).

Most games are one player??? Which games are you playing? Try connecting to xbox live.  Xbox 360 is the best console for multiplayer gaming!!

Yes the PS3 has wifi inbuilt, but u can buy the wifi adaptor for the 360 if you really need that. As for exclusives, the PS3 only has Sony made games left as exclusives everything else is now on the 360 or will be coming out on the 360.  Plus the PS3 wont be getting Crackdown 2 and that is going to be amazing with its 16 player feature.

The only reason anybody would choose a PS3 over a 360 is the blu ray player, but even standalone players are dirt cheap now and better than the PS3.
