I'm puchasing an amp that has 2 HDMI outputs. I was thinking of hooking the otherone one to a TV in a another room (so we could watch sky or the blueray on another screen.) The distance is about 8 metres & the cable will be run externally.

Does this work or will the quality suffer so its noticeable ?

I use a 10m HDMI cable (from hdproducts.com) to drive my 1080p projector.

No garanty on my eye-site but Planet Earth makes you feel you are actually there flying through the forest.

Picture quality is excellent in my book.

8m will be fine - depending on how much you want to spend, but I'd probably look at a QED one for good balance of performance and price at that length.

I'd be a bit more worried about it running externally though - worth looking into some kind of protection for it, be that tubing / pipe of some sort - you don't really want to have to replace it once it's all in place I wouldn't have thought.

As it's being run externally,i'd be inclined to get a HDMI over cat5/6 kit like this and either get some exterior grade cat5/6 or run standard cat5/6 in conduit. You wont have to make such big hole's in the wall as you will to get an HDMI plug through it.

Granted,probably not the cheapest solution, but neater/easier IMO.....
