Ok I have a choice now...........Chord superscreen (1m) brand new for £55 (and I know it sounds great on my cd player),

or Chord Powerchord, second hand (0.5m) for same price? (RRP £120 - next level up from superscreen) But obviously I've not tried it on my player!!

Why are some powerchord's orange and other's purple?

 

Last years design orange this years purple. AFAIKthis is correct.  Same cable

Thanks .......guess it's like the QED Profile 4x4 speaker cable....started out green, then it was changed to white but I was told by QED it was exactly the same cable.....

Are you able to tell me (i might get in a kafuffle here) if the power cords in general can have different connector sockets on the end!! ie some of my products the power cable is like a triangular shape 3-pronged or some are 2-pronged. about as clear as mud!

The two pronged is the figure of eight / calculator connector usually rated @ up to 2.5A

The three pronged one is called a Euromain / IEC Cold Connector (sometimes wrongly called a Kettle lead) usually rated @ up to 10A

yes thats right the figure 8, thanks dave, so can these cords come with either as over time id like to upgrade all my power cables one at a time.

If 0.5M is enough I would go for the powerchord.  At the very least it should be as good as the superscreen.  But I have no experience of either tbh.

Errr actually no these cords don't come with either as an option.  However some companies do, do a figure 8 power cable and it is possible to buy an adaptor to connect the larger 10amp adaptor to the figure 8 adaptor.  But in short the vast majority of power cables come with the 10amp connector.

No brainer......the Powerchord

The Clearer Audio cable adds a little clarity and colour vibrancy to the tv screen (using DVD playback), but it is difficult to fit into the rear of the tv (plug too big!), and the Chord adds a little more to both (easy to fit into back of tv)......

Only joking, yes I auditioned the superscreen on my CDP was not blown away.  Personally Ithink you have absolutely nothing to lose.  If you can get a dem of the Powerchord and go from there only you can tell.
