Am I showing my working class upbringing by not actually knowing what a desmond is?

A 2:2 degree, second class lower end. A Desmond Tutu.

Along with a Patty (Hearst=First) and a Douglas (Hurd=Third). We couldn't think of anything to rhyme with 2:1 though...

Cockney rhyming slang on a AV forum is a first? so in my best mockney accent: cor blimey, my old china, never heeard this before and what's this exhaustion and dread all about?

All this rhyming slang is too much for a glasgow lad like me. I'm off for a sticky and an oily to mull things over.

Re: dfs advertising

As with most things in life, it's not what you've got, it's what you do with it.

I know people with a Douglas who are walking away with £40k plus pensions, and those with Pattie's who are teachers with b*****  all in comparison.

That said, they are all new phrases to me..but heh ,I'm in the Colonel class.

And if the advert on the telly is to be believed, the job is mostly about light hearted banter with highly motivated children young adults.
