Re: ANALOGUE TUNERS

a) because not all regions have a full digital service until 2012

b) because models are made for more markets than just the UK, where there may still be analogue broadcasting.

Because if you live in Wick you can't get Freeview. So until everybody up there has a freesat tuner, the BBC, ITV and C4 still have a public service obligation to transmit analogue.

Re: ANALOGUE TUNERS

There's also lot's of people who use "magic eyes" via rf output's on Sky boxes etc, to send the pictures to second/remote tv's or even pipe it round the house via distribution systems to multiple tv's.

The rf out's on stb's are analogue so you need analogue tuners.

Also, analogue tuners are dirt cheap to produce so why not still include them.

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking TBH.

Usually/for best PQ you would connect a Sky SD/Sky+ directly to the tv via scart or HDMI in the case of SkyHD so the tv's tuners dont come into play.

If you're connecting to a tv via a Sky stb's rf outputs then the tv will need an analogue tuner

Hate to break this to you, speccy, but the TVs on sale in this country are all made in jolly big factories in Japan, China, South Korea, Spain, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic...

We don't have any TV factories in the UK anymore. The last one, in Plymouth, closed down a couple of months ago.
