Certainly run the Pre-Outs from the Onkyo to the Cyrus Amp. Then connect the CD player to the Cyrus Amp. This takes the Onkyo out of the equation for CD playback and so will give you better quality. (Unless you have a chat with Trevor79!) Anyway, I would expect to see a better initial improvement from getting the CD player first.
