Panny 42V10

Have just read a certain review on a 50inch v10. And was really thinkin this is the one untill i read that u cant adjust the gamma on the uk version but u can on the european version. Now i dont know if ths is the same for the 42inch version. But i did notice that the G10 series has gamma adjustment and although is a great tv in its own right is meant to be the lesser model compared to the V10. Now im sure some one will say that this tv is THX certified though and they would be right. And although this gives a fantastic picture it is not always perfect and like the review said the gamma was a little bit out. Which i know may not bother me but if its possible on the G10 then it is a disgrace that it is not on the V10 I mean paying more for less and both from the same manufacture. Any news or thoughts welcome. And then theres the point that europe has it but we dont now thats just insulting.

Re: Panny 42V10

G10 doesnt have gamma controls either. None of the UK models do. (except for PC VGA input, for some strange reason).

The TX-P42V10 is a First Test in the July issue (on sale June 3rd). It doesn't have gamma controls.

Re: Panny 42V10

was mistaken about the g10 read a review that altered the gamma after calibration must have done this indirectly. So does anyone else think this is just wrong to leave out i mean to put it simply for panny if someone is spending 1 and a half grand on a luxury item in the uk they expect the same features as europeans get. or do they cost more over there? Or is it just a case of they see us comin...

Re: Panny 42V10

No idea why they have done it. USA and Europe have these extra controls.

Maybe they were penny pinching on the UK sets because of the poor value of the pound vs. euro and dollar?? But even then they dont save maufacturing costs, it's all in the firmware/software.

Re: Panny 42V10

exactly the manufacturing cost r the same. I mean they sell alot of sets in the uk so i am just dissapointed that they cant honour us with aleast the same spec. Dont get me wrong i am still eagerly waiting for the review. But am just gutted that they couldnt include this like they have over there would just like to know why. As you would think this simple addition would only improve the product.

Re: Panny 42V10

Your quite right it said it does give a very accurate picture and of course i havent seen it for my self and might even not notice the gamma is slightly out. But my griavence is that if everywhere else could have it then why not in uk. What do you mean when u say watch normal tv.

Re: Panny 42V10

Hi,i think we are getting a bit confused, all i am trying to say is that it has a THXmode so just use it for normal viewing ,not just blueray.

Re: Panny 42V10

ah understood u see i thought u where sayin dont watch any hd material. And im not disagreeing with u at all i have read that the thx mode is quite impressive and gives a lovely detailed picture. But if an expert says i could be nearly perfect with some gamma adjustment and it is availiable then i say why not.

Re: Panny 42V10

I have really high hopes for this TV.I cant wait till it arrives at my local Panasonic dealer. As for adjusting things, sometimes the old adage applies,"if it ain't broke don't fix it".
