Blue Ray : am I asking the impossible??

My son has a Pioneer A6 amp and Sony CD recorder. I'd like to get him a Blue Ray that will improve CD sound quality as well as giving HDTV.  The amp has only analogue inputs.  Budget around £300 - any suggestions?????

Re: Blue Ray : am I asking the impossible??

i think the sony bdp-s350 and 550 players are meant to be good with music and have phono outs.

I can't remember the opinions on the other players but i *think* the Panasonic 35 and 55 (certainly the more expensive one) i think, got good reviews for music they've been replaced now but the new ones are just as good.

Can't say they will beat the sony for sure, but i was listening to Beethovens Misa Solemnis through my 550 and thought it sounded good.
