Grado RS1s

Just won a pair of these on eBay. £343.98. Mint condition. Used. What do you think? Good deal?

Clicky.

Brilliant PJ. Now your headfi has the cans it has been crying out for, for some time now. A big review of the sound please! How much of a jump from your SR80s are they? Pictures, etc etc.

Er, just a note - I live about 5 miles away from the seller. Do you want me to visit and check them first? Or are you happy to have him deliver them?

Re: Grado RS1s

I'm guessing the seller will be keen to send them on and I'm keen to receive them....but thanks for the offer.

Re: Grado RS1s

It would seem that my wife is somewhat less than impressed with this purchase.

Angry Wife

That's not her but you get the idea.

Re: Grado RS1s

I was just thinking of a way to get to listen to some RS1s!

I take it that this lifelong purchase is more expensive than any dress or shoes that the wife has ever made, which she has only worn once. And before she says no, remember her wedding dress. Way less value than a decent set of headphones. Women bah!

Re: Grado RS1s

Err. We did the wedding on the cheap. She wore her graduation dress suit and I wore my graduation suite. We had four guests (including family) and held the event at Ringwood Registry Office.

My wife is actually very frugal when it comes to clothes, shoes, bags, hair cuts, etc, etc, etc....so I don't really have a leg to stand on. And we are saving hard to build an extension.

But I'll make it up to her.

Err, that's not my torso.

Re: Grado RS1s

At around one third of the original asking price that`s a real bargain! Hope they`re everything you`re hoping they`ll be. With a DIY headphone amp plus the Grados you could be listening to top notch performance at a knock down price. Well played.

Well, about half price....I've seen the RS1is for round £800. I'm just hoping that they aren't RS2s with a fake bit of wood stating RS1 on them. I know that the wooden ear chamber is supposed to be bigger than on the RS2s but does anyone know how big they should be?

I was thinking of getting a pair of the 325is but these came along at about the same price. The mag doesn't appear to have a review available online but Grado do have a quote on their website...

"We've always had bit of a headphone fettish at What Hi-Fi? We're often talking about how they can create your own private universe, plug directly into your favorite piece of music. Now we've heard the Grado RS1s, and our fettish has become an epic, full blown love affair. Ooooh..."
What Hi-Fi

Does anyone from the mag know which headpone amp was used when testing the RS1s?

Re: Grado RS1s

Oh and my wife seems to have mellowed about the whole thing this morning. She even asked me how much were the speakers I've been looking at (AVI Neutron 5). It probably means she has a purchase of her own planned.
