It's probably time I bought a blu ray player, especially as I am asking Santa for Neil's 'Archives' in Blu Ray for Xmas.

However, there is already too much equipment on the rack so it would make sense to replace my Pioneer DVD 565-A. However, I rely on this player to play my DVD A and SADC discs.

Is there a blu ray player at a reasonable cost that can replace it?

There are a couple of very expensive universal players from Denon and Marantz (cheapest is £1500 I think) or you can buy the Oppo 83 (as I have) for £500-573 (depending on whether you want it multi region) but it is only available as an import via a single UK distributor  which puts some people of (not me). Cambridge Audio have a model with some of the same chips as the Oppo which is supposed to be released this year.
