Contract is up.. Do I go for an Iphone(though I think its a bit on the expensive side)  I already have a 32 gig ipod touch so not that concerned about music capabilities. HTC Hero, Gets great reviews, motorola dext?

I looking for a multimedia phone mainly for email, internet etc as well as phone calls lol. Any recommendations would be welcome. Only restriction is it has to be on Orange as I get free calls to my gf who is living in bristol atm (I'm in Glasgow).

That's hardly a selling point, since most smart phones include this without the overpriced tariffs just because it's an iphone.

Re: New phone

Hi,

Along a similar vein, friend has been looking at an iPhone 3GS. It doesn't seem to have an FM radio - will it tune into internet radio?

Cheers,

Htc comes with Android 1.6. I have had mine for 2 weeks now and am well pleased with it. On the strength of seeing mine my future son in law has now  got one. Touch Screen is excellent btw.

Re: New phone

I'm also on the look out for a new phone. IMO, the iPhone is overpriced. Another problem with it is that it's the only phone using the iPhone OS. It means if you invest a fair amount of dosh in apps for it, then you're then tied down to an iPhone in future unless you want to rebuy the apps on another OS. If you look at the Android for example, there's so many manufacturers using it now (Motorola, HTC, Samsung, SE, Acer) that when you upgrade your phone in the future you'll have way more options.

By the way of which phone to go for, it would seem HTC's next Android phone will be based on their new HD 2 (which I'd buy in a snap if it was Android and not Windows Mobile) so I'm gunna hang on for that. The Motorla Droid looks cool but I don't think anyone's carrying it in the UK...

Sell your Ipod Touch and get the Iphone - they are brilliant.

Re: New phone

The Hero is a nice looking piece of kit but won't multitask.
You've maybe three options, iphone, Nokia n97 mini or BB Bold. All do email and internet well but I read somewhere that the Nokia doesn't have push email.
Most newer BBs can be a bit buggy but the Bold seems stable.
Iphone has been well covered in this thread both good and bad.

Re: New phone

Currently got an INQ1 mobile with 3 - £13 for 1100 mins (after my renewal). Would love to clap hands on the new Nokia E52 which looks like a fine handset. Good all-round functionality and a very decent battery life. That'd be my pick.

Re: New phone

Samsung phones are well worth a look. I've had my Tocco Ultra since launch and its been excellent so I'd expect their higher model smart phones could be very good as well.

I've also been pleased with Sony Ericsson phones in the past, but not as enamoured with the Nokias or Motorolas.
