Sky hd box issue

Hi All

Has anyone had a similar problem with their Sky hd box. I have read there are lots of issues with sky hd boxes, but haven't been able to find one similar to mine. My sky hd box turns itself off whenever it likes, it was not a problem really, but now its getting more n more often & im gettting more n more ear ache from the other half, its also freezing quite a bit with only pulling the plug out that solves it. Any help or ideas appreciated.

Thanks Steve

Re: Sy hd xox issue

I haven't had the same problems you've had, but I find that unplugging the box once every couple of weeks for a few minutes and then switching it back on helps to reduce the frequency of the box freezing. I used to have the box freeze relatively regularly until I started doing this and haven't had a problem since.

Hope this is of some help.

Re: Sy hd xox issue

I have had this problem with my sky hd box. I am now on my 4th box in 18 months. When it works every thing is great. The samsung box seems to give a better picture than the old thompson box. Complain to sky, they should change the box if still in warranty. If you are out of warranty threaten to leave sky unless they fix the problem, they will replace the box free of charge. Don't take a maintenance contract as these are simply not worth it. Hope this helps.

Re: Sky hd box issue

I have the same problem with my box, but just continue to live with it - i.e. unplug, and rest. It happens about once every eight weeks. Probably in the new year (as I've been with them for two years) I'll do the "I'll leave if you don't replace my box for free" trick.

Re: Sky hd box issue

When my launch date Sky+HD started to turn itself off I reasoned that it must been disk related.
I could verify this by turning auto rewind off so the box was not constantly recording/buffering and then it remained on.

After replacing the drive it behaved better than new and it cured the problem.
