Aged 14 I heard my first real hifi (Ariston RD80, Quad 33/405,ESL63) at the same time as I had my first inhalation of cannabis. It was an experience that changed my life. My Ferguson Studio 100D music centre had to go. Between the ages of 14 and 20 I upgraded as funds allowed ending up with Linn LP12, Basik Plus Arm, KP Cart, Naim 62/140, Ruark Swordsman. Things stayed pretty static until I worked at a club for a few years. There I realised how much bass I was missing. I bought a few mags to research subs and ended up hankering for an AV system to go with my new TV. The upgrading bug was back having laid dormant for 12 years. I've spent the last few years baack on the upgrade wagon. I have acquird a massive collection of spare black boxes on this trek. I think I'm nearly there now, honest. My system employs an unconventional combination of pre/power amplifiers.
